Phenibut is a derivative of the brain’s naturally occurring neuro-transmitter, GABA, capable of passing the blood-brain barrier and allowing GABA to reach the brain. Gamma-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) is a stress-relieving substance that binds to the brain’s GABA-B receptors and acts as an anxiolytic (anti-anxiety). Phenibut is used as a nootropic, relaxation aid, and a sleep promoter. Phenibut diminishes asthenia (physical and psychic weakness, general feebleness) manifestation and symptoms including headache, feeling of hardness in the head, sleeping disorders, irritation, emotional instability. Phenibut increases mental activity, improves focus, memory, speed of reaction and accuracy not causing unnecessary side effects.

Phenibut (beta-phenyl-gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a neuropsychotropic drug with anxiolytic and nootropic (cognition enhancing) effects. Phenibut easily crosses the blood-brain barrier due to incorporation of a phenyl ring into the GABA molecule. Phenibut acts as an agonist of the GABAB receptor and at higher doses also of the GABAA receptor. It also increases dopamine levels in the striatum. Phenibut is used ti treat post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, asthenia, insomnia, alcoholism, stuttering, and vestibular disorders.
