PROPRANOLOL (Anaprilin, Inderal) is a beta-blocker. Beta-blockers affect the heart and circulation (blood flow through arteries and veins). Propranolol is used to treat tremors, angina (chest pain), hypertension (high blood pressure), heart rhythm disorders, and other heart or circulatory conditions. It is also used to treat or prevent heart attack and to reduce the severity and frequency of migraine headaches.

DESCRIPTION
Propranolol works by blocking the action of certain natural chemicals in your body (such as epinephrine) that affect the heart and blood vessels. This effect reduces heart rate, blood pressure, and strain on the heart.
PACKAGING
Anaprilin comes in the form of tablets for oral administration.
Active ingredient: propranolol hydrochloride (anaprilin) – 10 or 40 mg
DOSAGE
With arterial hypertension – orally, 40 mg 2 times a day.
With insufficient severity of the hypotensive effect, the dose is increased to 40 mg 3 times or 80 mg twice a day. The maximum daily dose is 320 mg.
With angina, heart rhythm disturbances – in the initial dose of 20 m g 3 times a day, then the dose is increased to 80 – 120 mg in 2 – 3 doses. The maximum daily dose is 240 mg.
For the prevention of migraine, as well as with essential tremor – in the initial dose of 40 mg 2 – 3 times a day, if necessary, gradually increase the dose to 160 mg / day.
In case of abnormal liver function, it is necessary to lower the dose of the drug.
With impaired renal function, it is necessary to reduce the initial dose or increase the interval between doses of the drug.
Prevention of recurrent myocardial infarction – therapy begins between the 5th and 21st day after suffering a myocardial infarction in a dose of 40 mg 4 times a day, for 2-3 days. Then in a dose of 80 mg 2 times a day.
For pheochromocytoma, use only with alpha-adrenoreceptor blockers.
SIDE EFFECTS AND PRECAUTIONS
You should not use this medicine if you have asthma, very slow heart beats, or a serious heart condition such as “sick sinus syndrome” or “AV block” (unless you have a pacemaker). Take propranolol exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
